It is time to make changes to the games room

The time has finally come to change the games room around. I have finally got permission from the other half to move everything around and finally create a bit of extra space for myself. Currently I am cramped up in a corner for my PC set up and I am fed up plus it feels cramped when playing the consoles so the plan is nice and simple... maximize the space and make it somewhere that I am happy to spend hours on end. I am really wanting to grow this site so I need a space where I can sit and write posts for hours on end and also actually be happy to sit and play through games once more. The room just doesn't work like that at the moment and as you can see in the picture above it is just a cramped mess at the moment but not for much longer.

To create the most space the sofa bed is going to be turned to face the radiator with plenty of space in front so we can actually extend it into a bed for a change, which will mean we can fully lounge around whilst gaming to create the ultimate cosy space. The good thing about the games room is that it is a room that is always warm so we never actually turn the radiator on which means we are going to be putting the TV stand and consoles in front of this (again don't worry this radiator won't be on so the consoles are safe). Above the radiator and TV stand will be the TV and luckily there is the perfect space for this with the shelves being able to stay above it. The plan those is to possibly change the shelves around as I am just not loving the DC one anymore.

In the corner where my desk currently is we will be moving the Kallax into here and one of the game cupboards, which will be getting sorted out so we know what games we actually have to play through. The other games cupboard will be at the side of the TV stand and will probably hold the games that we are currently playing through or want to play through as soon as possible. Before being moved the Kallax is going to have a declutter too as at the moment it is just full of items that are no longer needed. In the corner I am also thinking of adding an IKEA pegboard so we can store our controllers on it and they no longer go missing. The Funko shelves are also staying in this area and on the top of the Kallax & game cupboard I want to add some nice figures and maybe a mini fridge but that is going to take some persuading to happen.

Liam's desk is staying exactly the same however, we are going to finally declutter the little bit at the side of his desk which over the years has simply become a dumping ground. We are finally going to add his sword to the wall above his desk too as it is too nice to have hidden away like it currently is.

By moving the sofa bed we are creating a lot more open space in half of the room so we are going to move the dogs bed behind the sofa bed so that he is in between us both which is where he settles the most. Opposite the dogs bed directly under the window we will be having our Pokemon unit which needs a clear out as at the moment the Pokemon are hidden behind soft toys we just don't want on display anymore.

Now onto the best bit as my desk area is going to be moved into where the console area is now meaning I get so much space. The first thing I am doing is getting a much longer desk and I will eventually be adding a new PC & chair to this area but those can wait for the time being. I am going to be getting the IKEA desk with the drawers under one side so that I have a hidden space for spare wires, my handhelds and all the bits I use for creating content, I am even thinking of having one of these drawers as a snack drawer but we shall see. There will be a few accessories added to the top of the desk too just to tidy it up as much as possible and keep it looking nice and put together. That is enough about the desk set up though as I will be doing a whole post on it once things have changed as I am looking forward to this little project on a budget.

Above the desk I will be adding a pegboard or two from IKEA where I can keep some little figures and my memory cards etc for creating content so everything has its own home and isn't left lying around to go missing. I actually have a list of pegboard bits I want to pick up to go on here so I can have a combination that works for me. There is the temptation to add a little shelf above here in the future but I am going to leave that for the time being giving me time to decide if I really do want it or not. There is also the possibility of us repainting the room in the distant future however, as this is a budget change around that can wait.

I really can't wait to see how this turns out but most importantly I can't wait for a space that I can enjoy being in and can happily sit in for hours on end playing games and creating content. I will be documenting all the progress on social media and posting the final results on here so keep an eye out for the progress. Now let's get things moving and see how it all works out...

See you soon,
