So last week my dreams finally came true after a 12 year long wait I finally saw Tegan and Sara live.
This is honestly something I have looked forward to for a very long time. I got hooked on their music back in 2004 when I first heard their So Jealous album at the age of 10. The music has played a big part in my life and I even have lyrics from their song Someday tattooed on my arm with more tattoos currently been planned out.
On the 23rd of June I queued from 11am in the rain to see them and managed to get to the from row. Things couldn't have been any better. At 8pm support act Ider came on stage for what was only their second ever concert, and they were amazing. I will be doing a full post on Ider in the future as I am hooked on their music.
When Tegan and Sara came on stage they opened with 'the con' which is by far one of my favourites, they also played a variety of songs for all albums including their new album 'Love you to death' which I will be reviewing in full very soon. One of the best moments came in the set when Sara dedicated her song I'm not your hero' to MP Jo Cox.
One song I have wanted to hear them sing live is Dark come soon, This song has so much meaning to me as the lyrics are so deep. I wasn't expecting this song to be played at all however it was a brilliant surprise. Another song that was great to hear live was Call it off as this is another song that has helped me through life and has a lot of meaning, and the way the whole crowd sing along with Tegan on this song is absolutely brilliant.
I can honestly say this is one of the best concerts I have been to the stage presence is amazing and the on stage banter between Tegan and Sara is perfect. The vocals were amazing from both Tegan and Sara and you really feel the emotion they put into their songs.
I can not wait to see them both again on their next European tour and hopefully one day I can interview them for this blog. Both Tegan and Sara are such a big influence in my life and I am so pleased I can finally say I have seen them live and can't wait to see them in the future.
