World of Warcraft is a game I have always been interested in but I haven't really tried it properly and to be honest I aren't sure why as it is a game I am absolutely surrounded by. Liam absolutely love the game and he plays it almost every night, he has the figures, books (which he got me reading) and a lot more World of Warcraft merchandise so there isn't really anyway of escaping it for me and to be honest I don't mind as it is nice to see how much enjoyment he gets from the games.
Over the years that we have been together I have sat and watched Liam play the game and from what I have seen it looks quite good and interesting and it is safe to say it has plenty of players but I am just on the fence about trying it for myself and this has been going on for a while as I have actually had the game installed on my gaming PC since I got it 3 years ago so it is safe to say the internal debate about trying it has been going on for a while.
The big reason for me is the fact it is an online game. If you have read the blog for a while you will know I really aren't a fan of playing any sort of game online as I prefer to do my own thing at my own pace and whilst World of Warcraft is an online game it seems that you can spend a whole chunk of time doing your own thing if you like which definitely appeals to me, plus I could always play with Liam which would make a lovely change as we don't play anything together these days and I am sure he could help me out quite a bit as he knows so much about the game.
I think if I did try it though and started enjoying it I could very easily end up hooked as I do with most things like that and to be honest I don't want that to be the case as I don't want to continue neglecting other games I own. I know that if I started playing this now I would end up neglecting my backlog and I am doing my very best to get through that at the moment so I don't want to halt that progress. Maybe one day if the backlog is massively reduced I will dive into World of Warcraft but maybe I will hold off for now so the backlog challenge isn't effected.
There is also the fact there is a subscription cost once my free trial ends. Do I really need to add another subscription cost on top of all the ones I am currently paying especially as I am also hoping to sign up to gamepass soon too. The subscription costs are really starting to add up so is it worth adding more or not right now? Maybe if I decided after the trial I do want to play it I will look through other subscriptions to see if I can cut anything out but I will have to see about that. Plus there is the lawsuit going on at the moment do I really want to give them my money with those accusations I am seeing?
It is safe to say that there are plenty of pros and cons for me trying this game and this post names just a few of them. Maybe it is time to give the trial a go then see how it goes. Who knows it might end up one of my favourite things to play and me and Liam might actually end up gaming together for a change.
Do you play World of Warcraft? What are your thoughts on it?
