Here we go again with the backlog challenge, with a massive fail in 2024 we are changing things up in 2025 and the format of the challenge is going to be changing to hopefully make it a little easier and a little less overwhelming. Towards the end of 2024 I took stock of what games I had in the backlog and the amount of games shocked me as it is ridiculous.
When I have counted the games I have a grand total of 77 games unplayed across the Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5 and XBOX which is absolutely ridiculous and I am determined to slowly chip away at this total so I can see it reduce a fair bit over the course of 2025, which will also tie in nicely to posting on here more too as it means there should be plenty of game reviews to come.
The backlog challenge used to be to complete 3 games so I can buy one new however, this wont be happening this time around as I am wanting to use any money for jobs around the house or for the tech items I have been longing for. Yes I will be buying new games throughout the year but I will be buying these as and when I can rather than when 3 games have been completed.
So here is the new plan for the backlog challenge in 2025...
I have written out each game title that is in the backlog and put them into categories so either a Switch list, a PlayStation list or a XBOX list. Once these have been written down I have added each category to it's own random generator to pick out the game I will be playing on each of the 3 platforms. Whatever the random generator picks is what we will be playing and once the game is complete it will be taken off the list and I will be picking the next game for the platform. I am hoping this helps keep the flow of gaming going as it takes out the guess work of what to play next. Previously I have put off playing the next game as I haven't been able to pick what is for me but this takes out the guess work and will mean I hopefully get through a good chunk of the backlog in 2025.
2025 is definitely the year of more gaming so let's hope these 77 games get closer to the 60 mark this year...
See you soon
